Strategy & Message

Services that support campaigns.

We customize our services to your needs. We provide the strategy and message delivery that allow your campaign to focus on recruiting supporters and talking with voters.

Strategy and message are the most important parts of any campaign. That’s why we embed them in every aspect of our campaigns, from mail and texting to online communications. You could have 100 volunteers, but if they don’t have strategic direction and strong messaging, they’re lost.

We help campaigns develop their strategy and message. We talk with you, review voter data and past elections, assess the field of candidates and issues, talk with local stakeholders, and then we develop the best strategic plan to win the campaign.

Our plans can use a variety of tools, from well-funded mail programs to volunteer-driven phone and text programs, social media and email outreach. We write plans to fit your budget and fundraising capacity, which we can also work with you to develop and implement.

We often work with campaigns on every aspect of their race, yet we understand that some campaigns need some things we offer, but not others. We’re able to collaborate and create a package of services that matches your needs. We focus on the win, not the sales.

Our Specific Services

Listed below are the categories of services we provide campaigns. These consulting services can be purchased as part of a package agreement or on a select basis. Please contact us for further details.

Online Organizing

Online organizing using email blasts and organic facebook and instagram posts, and the copywriting that entails, are critical to get right. We work to develop a content calendar, including feedback mechanisms, that roll out your issues and position you as a leading candidate. Additionally, we develop your online events program and provide coaching on messaging throughout, including on how to deal with any controversial issues.

Fundraising

You will need to fundraise constantly in the campaign. We use a combination of online solicitations, events, house parties, call-time and texting apps, even traditional letters to accomplish this. Fundraising has moved predominantly online, even in local races, but we still encourage in-person events to help expand your base of support. We also integrate fundraising messaging with the rest of the campaign’s message to help drive donors to action. Helping make this connection to donors is one of our key strengths.

Mail and Print Pieces

Mailers, signs and walk pieces are increasingly important as face-to-face interactions with voters at the door become more difficult. These pieces are often the most expensive items in a budget, especially in local races, but they also provide the greatest reach into voters’ homes. With the ability to micro-target audiences, they both increase awareness and have the power to persuade.

Supporting Volunteers

We can help support volunteers to reach voters with neighborhood walk, phone and text programs, grow your social media presence organically, and use peer-to-peer tools to increase local network effects. Managing volunteers can be a full time job and if you bring on a campaign manager, we’ll work with her/him/them as well, to make sure your volunteers are on the right track.

Tying all of this together — online, fundraising, print and volunteers — is what we do as your consultants. We develop the campaign strategy, help you deliver the message, and continue working together through Election Day so you’re saying the right things to the right voters at the right time.

We’re With You at Every Step

Every campaign has a sequence of steps it has to execute to deliver its message to voters and win on Election Day.

For clients who hire us for the whole campaign, we can help you with any step in your road to victory:

  1. Kickstart help for IRS tax number, bank account, treasurer preparations, campaign committee filings.

  2. Launch campaign with logo, campaign colors, reviewing existing photos, crafting opening message, email blast, website and facebook pages.

  3. Develop your campaign structure with fundraising goals, budget, key volunteers and a new photo shoot.

  4. Build your base of supporters with email and facebook content calendars, acquire more emails and facebook likes, fundraising appeals to supporters, early endorsements, identifying supportive voters and earned media.

  5. Mobilize base supporters and persuade majority of voters, overseeing signs, mailers, online ads, paid phones, texts and other outreach in integrated paid media plan.

  6. GOTV (Get Out The Vote) after reviewing early metrics, including any early voter turnout, using chase phone calls and texts, facebook posts and other GOTV methods to bring home the win.
